Mexican migrant dies of injuries after living near Yuma. fell from a 9 meter high border barrier

TUCSON (KVOA) – A man is dead after allegedly falling off a 10-meter-high border barrier while reportedly attempting to illegally enter Arizona from Mexico on Wednesday.

According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency, a Yuma Border Patrol agent found a Mexican migrant lying on the ground on the west side of a border barrier about three miles south of the Andrade port of entry in Winterhaven, California, after being informed of the incident from an undocumented non-citizen on Wednesday.

With the assistance of a life-saving rescue package, border guards, medical technicians and medical personnel from the Rural Metro Fire Department transported the man to the nearby landing area, where he was flown to Abrazo West Campus Hospital in Goodyear, Arizona.

Despite an operation, the migrant was pronounced dead at the scene eight hours later.

The Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner and the CBP Office of Professional Responsibility are currently investigating the incident, according to the CBP.
