Mixing of facts and opinions on the editorial site | News, Sports, Jobs
About the editor:
Many people seem to have trouble understanding the difference between fact and opinion. They are asking for an opinion “Lie” justified. In fact, a “Lie” is a conscious untruth. So you can call President Biden a bumpy shell and that’s your opinion. I’m judging your critical thinking skills (or lack of attention) because you don’t seem to have had a similar assessment of another clumsy, brainless oaf who was rejected by over 81 million voters. But that’s my opinion.
Words have meanings and a person should use them accordingly. The word “Revolt” has an actual meaning. It is incorrect to use this word to refer to a protest that took place in a business district (regardless of damage). Arguing that the actual riot that took place at the seat of our government wasn’t one because you think wrong “armed” means having guns is just wrong and inaccurate.
And the killing of a man by a police officer who was kneeling on him during his arrest for allegedly passing a counterfeit $20 bill was equating to the shooting of a woman who smashed a window to reveal a room with a guarded and barred Entering the door after being repeatedly told to back off is morally reprehensible.
Uninformed chatter should, I think, be saved for morning coffee at the C-Store booth or ramblings from the bar stool at the local pub. But they always find their way onto the editorial page or our local newspaper as if they were facts.
