MSU baseball turns page to SEC play | Sports

The Bulldogs have started 11-7 before Southeastern Conference play begins this weekend with a couple of series losses. Most importantly, some big pitching losses has made for a difficult schedule to navigate ahead.

State lost its ace pitcher and All-American in Landon Sims two weeks ago when he injured his elbow in the middle of one of his most dominate outings of his career against Tulane. The next day, potentially closer Stone Simmons left the game and MSU blew the lead against the Green Wave.

Both pitchers announced on Twitter within a few minutes of each other on Monday morning that they would miss the rest of the season. Both had Tommy John surgery this week and are in recovery mode but won’t be pitching for the Bulldogs again in 2022. For Sims, he likely won’t pitch at MSU again.
