NAU Men Fall, Women Beat Weber State To End 2022 – KAFF News – Flagstaff

The NAU basketball teams finished out 2022 against the Weber State Wildcats New Year’s Eve Day. The NAU men got out to a fast start, confusing Weber State, getting out to a 27-19 lead. However, Weber State went on an 11-0 run to end the first half and had a 14-0 run in the second half as they went on to a 76-60 win over NAU. Jalen Cone led the Lumberjacks with 16 points and Nik Mains added ten in the loss. NAU starts the Big Sky season 0-2 and returns to Flagstaff to open up the home slate against the Montana schools, starting with the Montana Grizzlies Thursday night at 6 pm The women trailed by one after the first quarter, but used strong second and third quarters to knock off Weber State, 82-68 in the Skydome. Montana Oltrogge led the Jacks with a double-double 19 points and 11 rebounds and Regan Schenck added 15 points, 11-of-12 from the free throw line, in the win. NAU was a lot better from three-point land against Weber, connecting on 10-of-25 from beyond the arc. The women will now head to Montana for a two game swing, staring in Missoula against the Grizzlies Thursday night.
