NAU postpones first day of classes at Flagstaff Mountain Campus

The first day of classes on the Northern Arizona University Flagstaff Mountain Campus will be postponed as the National Weather Service Flagstaff office predicts continuous heavy snowfall throughout northern Arizona.

With winter storm warnings and hazardous travel conditions plaguing the area, students are being advised to adjust their travel plans accordingly, as well as be aware of weather and road conditions.

“To help allow campus staff and regional partners to better clear snow from roadways and to reduce travel-related risks due to the inclement weather, Flagstaff classes will begin on Wednesday, Jan. 18,” NAU announced in a statement.

Other NAU locations and NAU online students will commence with scheduled classes, however, unless noted otherwise.

Further information regarding the operational status of the Flagstaff Campus will be provided to NAU staff on Monday, Jan. 16 at or before 5 pm depending on the impacts of the winter storm, according to the NAU statement.

Travel conditions can be checked at az511.gov.
