A former Coconino County official who oversaw the Navajo County Health Department was charged with 16 cases of theft, misuse of public funds and fraud.
The indictment announced Tuesday follows a state investigation into Jeffrey Lee’s use of purchase cards issued to him for personal benefit in both counties.
According to Navajo County, Lee is on administrative vacation from his job as director of health. Lee previously served as the Emergency Preparedness Manager in Coconino County.
Lee referred The Associated Press to his attorney, who did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Wednesday.
