NCHD Cancels Public Health Emergency Declaration – Yuma Pioneer

Sterling, Colorado – June 24, 2021: In April 2020, the Northeast Colorado Department of Health (NCHD) signed a resolution declaring a local health emergency for the Northeast Colorado Department of Health special district. In its board meeting on June 23, 2021, the board overturned the resolution.

“The public health emergency statement is no longer needed for our ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Trish McClain, director of NCHD.
NCHD’s health district includes Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington, and Yuma counties. While cases of COVID-19 have declined in our six-county health district, the Department of Health of Northeast Colorado is closely monitoring the Delta variant.
We recommend anyone who has not yet been vaccinated to consider vaccinating against the virus. There are three COVID-19 vaccines available. NCHD currently offers the Moderna vaccine and the mobile vaccine bus that runs through northeast Colorado offers the Pfizer and Janssen vaccines. To register for either an NCHD vaccination clinic or the mobile vaccination bus, you can find a clinic near you on our website: www.nchd.org/covidvaxlink. There are also other COVID-19 vaccine providers in the NCHD Health District: www.nchd.org/covid-19-vaccine-providers.
As we continue to monitor COVID-19 variants and their effects on other parts of the state and country, we would like to remind everyone to get tested and to self-isolate if symptoms occur in order to contain the spread of the virus.
