Phoenix City Council, District 2 Jim Waring met with staff from the nearby neighborhood and the city in Jackrabbit Park on Tuesday morning to celebrate the opening of a new playground. The city council made brief remarks and attended a ceremonial ribbon cutting that marked the official opening of the recently completed facility.
The new playground offers climbing frames and slides for children between 2 and 12 years of age, as well as swings for toddlers and young people as well as sitting spinners. Also included in the play area are 11 ADA-accessible play activities and a wheelchair-accessible dome-shaped climber.
The ground floor of the entire playground is covered with ADA-accessible wood fibers. Shade canopies are built into the play structures, and there are several new benches and a drinking fountain along the perimeter.
The project cost $ 110,000 and was funded by the voter-approved Phoenix Parks and Preserve Initiative (PPPI).
The hotel is located on 60th St. and Paradise Ln. (6002 E. Paradise Ln.), The approximately 17 acre pool-style park that opened in 1986. In addition to the playground, it also offers sufficient green spaces and area lighting.
