New study shows cheaper cost of living in Yuma

The study shows that the cost of living in Yuma is well below the national average and local residents agree – Luis Lopez reports

YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – For those looking for another reason to live in Yuma, a new study may just be the source.

Roofstock.com study shows the cost of living in Yuma is 12.2% lower than the rest of the country.

The data was collected from the US census along with data from the US Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Local residents say it is cheaper to live in Yuma.

Shawnalisa Robinson, who moved to Yuma from the Midwest, says local things have opened up more options for their children because local things are cheaper.

“Yes, the cost of living is good because I have a lot of children who are athletes. Now that the cost of living is lower, my children can do more and pursue their dreams with their sports and after-school programs and activities.” said Robinson.

The lower cost of living is also bringing more people to Yuma, as the same study showed the local population rose 4.1% from 2017 to 2020.
