PHOENIX — Travelers will have various local options to eat or shop at when a new concourse at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport’s busiest terminal opens this summer.
The Phoenix City Council on Wednesday approved recommended proposals for new restaurants, shops and a common-use lounge for the airport’s 8th concourse at Terminal 4, according to a press release.
Among the food options coming to the concourse are local concepts Pedal Haus Brewery, Berry Divine Acai Bowls and Sip Coffee & Beer; regional concepts Eegee’s and Bobby’s Burgers; and national brand Chick-fil-A.
Shopping options include Valley institutions Changing Hands Bookstore, Melrose Pharmacy, CASA Unlimited and Made Art Boutique, as well as national brands like Ray Ban, Oakley, Maui Jim, Herschel, L’Occitane and L’Oreal and InMotion.
“With local businesses like Changing Hands bookstore and Melrose Pharmacy, along with a statewide favorite like Eegee’s, we will now be showcasing some of the best we have to offer,” Mayor Kate Gallego said in a press release.
“Placing these organizations in front of global travelers is a great way to accelerate their growth and accentuate the things that make our community such a fabulous place to be.”
The restaurants and shops will open in phases through 2022 and 2023, according to the release.
Meanwhile, the 3,500-square-foot common-use lounge will allow travelers to relax or work while enjoying a specially curated menu.
The Sapphire Lounge by The Club is open to all Chase Sapphire Reserve cardmembers, members of Priority Pass, or those who purchase a day pass, according to the release.
Other amenities available in the concourse are multiple charging stations, an animal relief area, a nursing room, art, as well as views of South Mountain and the surrounding areas.
A connector bridge will also allow people to access all gates of Terminal 4 without leaving the secured area.
The 130,000-square-foot concourse, approved by the city in October 2016, will add eight gates to Terminal 4 and be occupied by Southwest Airlines.
The projected cost of the concourse was $310 million.
