Solar United Neighbors (SUN) announced that members of the Northern Arizona Solar Co-op have selected Rooftop Solar to install solar panels for the group. Cooperative members selected Rooftop Solar as part of a tender process against five other providers. Almost 175 residents and business owners in Flagstaff, Sedona and Coconino Counties have already joined the cooperative.
SUN will hold its final virtual public information session for the cooperative on Wednesday March 24th at 6:00 p.m. The free session will educate the northern Arizona community about solar power and the cooperative process.
“We’re excited to see the community’s interest in solar,” said Derek Turner, vice president of sales and marketing for Rooftop Solar. “Rooftop Solar started in Flagstaff and has grown rapidly over the past 10 years. Many of us grew up here and are now raising families here. Being chosen as the preferred installer by the community means a lot. “
Solar cooperative members selected Rooftop Solar, based in Flagstaff, for their experience and location in Northern Arizona, as well as the company’s competitive pricing, equipment offerings, warranties, and financing options.
“We look forward to working with Rooftop Solar as the cooperative’s select supplier,” said Matt Nichols, member of the cooperative’s installer selection committee. “The selection process gave me and other members of the committee an opportunity to select a vendor that would best fit our group in Northern Arizona.”
SUN is expanding access to solar energy by educating Arizona residents about the benefits of distributed solar energy, helping them organize group solar purchases, strengthen Arizona solar policies, and build a community of solar fans.
Northern Arizona Solar Co-op’s local partners include the City of Flagstaff, the City of Sedona, and Coconino County.
“The cooperative is an exciting example of collective action,” said Nicole Antonopoulos, flagstaff city’s sustainability director. “It speaks for the interest and commitment of our region for renewable energies and the positive effects of the cooperation.”
Participation in the cooperative is free and there is no obligation to operate solar. Northern Arizona residents interested in working with us have until March 31st to register on the cooperative’s website.
