Notre Dame v Phoenix sport recap – january 24, 2021
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Prentiss Hubb scored 19 points with five 3-pointers and Notre Dame defeated Phoenix on Sunday night 73-59.
Phoenix scored the first six points of the game before a 9-3 run by Notre Dame broke the count. Dane Goodwin’s 3-pointer 4:33 before halftime gave Notre Dame the 19-16 lead and the Fighting Irish never followed again.
Notre Dame led 30-22 at break and extended the lead to 58-39, with 9:24 after two free throws from Juwan Durham.
Durham and Nate Laszewski each scored 16 for Notre Dame (5-8, 2-5 Atlantic Coast Conference). The Fighting Irish shot 28 to 52 (53.8%); thereof 10 for 18 from (55.6%) from the 3-point range.
Kameron McGusty scored 20 points for Phoenix (6-8, 2-7), Isaiah Wong added 16 and Elijah Olaniyi 10. Phoenix finished the shooting 3-22 from 3-point range.
The Irish won their second game in a row, leading the series 13-12.
Notre Dame will host Virginia Tech # 16 on Wednesday night.
Phoenix has now suspended two games in a row and three of its last four games. The hurricanes hit Florida on Wednesday night.
