Nottingham Forest were able to recruit three new players on the day of the transfer deadline, including Xande Silva from West Ham, Olimpia midfielder Braian Ojeda and Mohamed Dräger from Olympiakos.
Now Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieri has announced that Chris Hughton’s team have also made efforts to sign Japanese striker Yuma Suzuki.
Tavolieri have announced that Forest and Belgian side Sint-Truiden reached a late deal on a deal.
A move to the City Ground was not made after Suzuki turned down the opportunity to move to the championship on the deadline.
As a result, he has stayed with the Jupiler Pro League, with his contract with the club still lasting two years.
Another failed striker
Suzuki isn’t the only striker to appear on Forest’s radar ahead of yesterday’s deadline.
Bordeaux striker Josh Maja has reportedly been the subject of an offer from Forest but the concerned parties have been unable to agree on a deal.
Guven Yalcin from Turkish Besiktas is also said to be on Hughton’s radar, but a move turned into nothing more than rumors.
Forest’s attack options
Hughton will now only have Lewis Grabban and Lyle Taylor as main options at the top of the field. Arrival on the deadline Xande Silva can also act as a center forward if necessary.
Even though the window is closed, the club can still look into the free agent market if they want to bring in another striker.
