Page County Auditor’s Office closes 2 afternoons for election training | news
(Clarinda) – The Page County Auditor’s Office will be closed for several afternoons next week for staff selection training.
Page County’s chartered accountant Melissa Wellhausen says her office will be closed from 1-4 a.m. on Wednesday, April 28 and Thursday, April 29, to allow her staff to complete state election training. The 2021 city and school council elections in November will be the first major endeavor for electoral officials across the state to include a new set of bills passed by lawmakers and incorporated into law this spring. In a previous interview with KMA News, Wellhausen said her office continues to educate and educate voters about changes in the law.
“There will be some specific hurdles to overcome,” Wellhausen said. “Our biggest hurdle is first and foremost getting all of our constituents aware and making them aware. Because this is a major change for everyone. We just want to make them aware of this new change and these guidelines. We always want to nor that everyone can vote and train. It’s just a matter of people being aware of this so that they don’t get into a situation in which they are unable to. “
Under the new law, polls will close at 8 p.m. instead of 9 p.m. and postal ballot papers must be received by the auditor’s office by the end of polls on election day.
