Page County’s native JMU softball player Kate Gordon visits Home Park to greet the fans

PAGE COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) – Kate Gordon, from Page County and JMU softball player, visited Shenandoah Ballpark Thursday night to meet with fans.

She recently played with the team in the Women’s College World Series.

Gordon played in the park growing up and said it was special to see all the young players.

“To be back here in the field where I grew up, where I started, is something very special for me. I can connect with the girls I was just in their shoes, it feels like it was yesterday, ”Gordon said. “Never in a million years would I have thought that people would come up to me (and say): ‘You are my favorite player’, ‘You make me go to JMU’, ‘You inspire me’, ‘ Because I heard you say that, I think positively when I hit. ‘”

Gordon said she will soon be starting a softball team under the age of 10 with high school teammate Allison Breeden and looks forward to helping young girls achieve their softball goals.

The team is called Shenandoah Sparks.
