Parents gather for the Vail School District near Tucson to drop the mask mandate on schools

VAIL, AZ – Chaotic moments occurred at the Vail Education Center, southeast of Tucson, where a school council meeting was due to be held Tuesday night.

Almost 100 parents gathered for the district to drop the mask mandate in schools. The group appeared before the regular study session at 5:30 p.m.

But the chalkboard was only halfway through when the parents huddled into the boardroom and refused to wear masks.

The Vail board called 911, and Pima County Sheriff Nanos told ABC15 subsidiary KGUN 9 that a sergeant and four MPs had shown up in just over a minute.

The district informs us that one of them advised the board to adjourn the study session because the crowd was uncontrollable.

But the sheriff says that’s not true, the board made that decision itself and controlling the crowd wasn’t a problem.

The board of directors canceled the regular meeting planned for 7 p.m.
