Park Tucson uses windshield blockers as a penalty for unpaid tickets

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) – On Monday, August 6th, the city of Tucson will begin labeling vehicles that require three or more unpaid parking permits.

Park Tucson employees plan to use a device called the Barnacle for this enforcement. The Barnacle is GPS-tracked and sucks on the windshield of a car. The device will not be removed until all tickets have been paid for or a payment plan has been set up.

As of June 30, more than 800 people have three or more outstanding parking tickets in the City of Tucson.

Tickets for parking issued by the City of Tucson can be paid for by calling (520) 791-4216 or on E. Alameda Street Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
