Phoenix City Council runoff election: Strong, Ansari wins victories | Arizona 2020 election results

PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – In Tuesday’s runoff elections, it’s not a big race for a seat on Phoenix City Council. According to the unofficial results of the city, Debra Stark easily beats Nicole Garcia with 68.4% to 31.6% of the vote for the representation of District 3. In District 7, Yassamin Ansari ranks 58.3% to 41.1% on Cinthia Estela%.

Although no official winner has been announced yet, both Stark and Ansari took to Twitter for their big wins.

“I am absolutely thrilled, humble, and grateful, and I can’t wait to work for you!” said Ansari in a tweet.

“I am honored and humbled to be re-elected as your councilor! I have lived my life in the public service and hope to continue to serve the district and the city thoughtfully,” Stark said in her own tweet.

Mayor Kate Gallego congratulated Stark on her re-election and Ansari on her victory. She had approved of both candidates.

“I’m thrilled to be working with you two – we’re celebrating tonight, we’re going to work tomorrow!” Gallego tweeted.

Garcia was a big believer in former President Donald Trump and was supported by City Councilor Sal DiCiccio. Estela was endorsed by retired incumbent Mike Nowakowski.
