Phoenix Fuel Masters finished Terrafirma Dyip’s winning run

Phoenix Super LPG ended Terrafirma’s three-game winning streak with a breezy 96-84 win on Thursday afternoon at DHVSU Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.

The Fuel Masters were mostly in control but took the game out of reach in the fourth quarter when Vic Manuel and RJ Jazul joined hands with a 15-3 lightning bolt to give their side an 84-67 lead.

“I didn’t really pay attention to the defense. We just run, play basketball like we do. We do offensive, [assistant] Trainer Jon [Jacinto]”He makes a great offense – he moves the ball around, takes it and passes the open man,” said Perkins after the game.

Phoenix immediately dared an 11-0 run after the tip and took the lead 24:17 after the first quarter, with his left-handed Filipino-Canadian showing the way with nine points.

Behind Roosevelt Adams’ eight points in a row, Terrafirma briefly took the lead in the second quarter, but the Fuel Masters took a break to regain their lead, albeit by a narrow margin, 48-47.

Early in the third quarter, Phoenix released nine unanswered points, and as the Dyip reduced their deficit to five, he quickly countered to get the biggest lead at 13, 67-54. The Dyip kept coming back, but eventually ran out of gas.

“Terrafirma has won games [with] they follow most of the game. We just have to hold on to our guns, focus on making stops, and that’s really important to us, “said head coach Topex Robinson as his side tied their defeated opponents 5-3 overall.

“We know we can score but the problem was we don’t stop. We did that earlier in this ball game,” he added, pleased with the fact that she’s under double digits at Dyip leader Juami Tiongson stopped with just eight points.

In place of Tiongson, Aldrech Ramos led the scoring column for Terrafirma with 13 points, while three other players added 11 each. All of this was not enough, however, to extend their surprising three-game winning streak, which included victories against the powerhouses San Miguel and Ginebra.
