Phoenix gets the first measurable rain in almost 2 months

PHOENIX – It wasn’t much, but Phoenix recorded its first measurable rain in nearly two months on Tuesday.

The city received 0.01 inches of rain and ended a 45-day streak with no rainfall.

The valley is still well below its average rainfall as temperatures begin to warm.

As of April 26th last year, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport has measured 2.5 inches of rain. The normal during this time is about 8 inches.

Phoenix was rewarded with a high temperature of 74 degrees on Tuesday, almost 30 degrees cooler than the forecast high of 102 degrees on Saturday.

In parts of northern Arizona, mostly near Flagstaff, snow fell Tuesday morning.

Flagstaff Airport got four inches of snow, while Kachina Village got 2 1/2 inches and Bellemont got 2.3 inches.

Some wet snow has also been reported in Grand Canyon National Park.
