Phoenix holds emergency meeting to ban the use of fireworks
PHOENIX, Ore – The city of Phoenix is following suit, banning fireworks this year.
That was decided at the city council meeting this evening. The city council has decided to ban the use of fireworks of all kinds within the city limits until further notice December 30th of this year.
It started with the public comment with the overwhelming support for the ban.
The fire chief for Jackson District fire department five spoke about the sensitive situation of the city, especially with the reconstruction of the community.
“I am not to make a political statement, just to say that, ”said fire chief Charles Hanely from fire department 5.
While the use of fireworks is banned, the sale of fireworks is still legal, and police say anyone caught using fireworks can be fined up to $ 500.
