Phoenix Mercury Guard Diana Taurasi will miss her second game in a row with a left ankle injury, the team announced on Friday.

Taurasi last played in the Mercury game on September 6, finishing with 11 points and six assists. She was downgraded from doubtful to out ahead of the Mercury game on Wednesday.

The five-time Olympic champion missed a hip injury as well as a chest injury this season. Still, she is the team’s third top scorer with 15.2 PPG.

The Mercury will do without Taurasi in the big duel on Saturday evening against the Connecticut Sun, who have the best record in the league with 23: 6. The Mercury, who have the fourth best record (19-10), drive a winning streak of 10 games. The Sun has won 11 games in a row.

Both teams have already secured a playoff spot. But the Mercury want to keep the fourth seed, which would give them a bye for the second round. In addition to Saturday’s game, the Mercury will face Seattle Storm and Las Vegas Aces at the end of the season – the other two teams with better records than them.

It is unclear whether Taurasi will miss any more games beyond Saturday’s game. The playoffs begin on September 23rd.
