Phoenix Motorcars from SPI is using the second unique electric service car from the City of Woodland in the City of Woodland to support its sustainability goals
SANTA CLARA, CA / ACCESSWIRE / April 19, 2021 / SPI Energy Co., Ltd. (“SPI Energy” or the “Company”) (NASDAQ: SPI), a global renewable energy company and provider of solar storage and electric vehicle (EV) solutions to business, residential, government, logistics, utility and investors announced today that their wholly owned subsidiary Phoenix Motorcars has delivered its second electric service vehicle to the Californian city of Woodland. These trucks are the first fully electric medium-duty commercial vehicles of their kind to be built and used in industry. The first vehicle was delivered earlier this year.
The City of Woodland will add these vehicles to their city maintenance fleet. The fully electric trucks are used across the city to maintain the supply infrastructure of the city of Woodland. Phoenix Motorcars’ Z500 trucks are the first step in Woodland’s efforts to clean air with zero-emission vehicles and will be the first zero-emission trucks to be used in the city’s fleet.
The city’s climate protection plan outlines a response to a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2035, with 31% of these initiatives targeting transport and land use. Together, these two trucks are expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 120 tons and save the city running costs.
“We are proud to play a role in Woodland City’s sustainability goals,” said Xiaofeng Peng, Chairman and CEO of SPI Energy. “The electrification of fleet operators offers a tremendous market opportunity and Phoenix Motorcars continues to demonstrate its ability to meet growing demand with innovative solutions and provide public and private customers with full support for their EV initiatives.”
The ZEUS 500 Electric Service Truck is based on the Ford E-450 chassis with a Knapheide body, is equipped with customer-specific configurations for the city and offers a range of up to 110 miles from its 105 kWh lithium-ion battery. The trucks are suitable for both Level 2 and Level 3 charging and have advanced telematics solutions to meet the needs of the city.
The story goes on
Phoenix Motorcars and the City of Woodland secured funding for the vehicle through Sacramento Emergency Clean Air Transportation (SECAT) funding from the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District (SMAQMD).
