Phoenix police arrest a woman in connection with a hit and run that left her father in a coma | Arizona News

PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – Almost a week after a hit and run driver in a neighborhood west of Phoenix dropped a father into a coma, police said they made an arrest. Vera Mims, 48, was arrested and jailed on Friday.

Phoenix police say a car pulled up and hit David from behind. Before falling to the ground, he pushed Aiden out of the way.

On May 28, David Espinoza and his 5-year-old son Aiden were walking to the park on Wood Street, north of Broadway, when Mims hit David with her Honda Civic on 24th Street, police said. Then she drove off. Before the impact, David pushed his son out of the way so that he would not be injured. David was hospitalized and was still in a coma on Friday night. He has broken ankles and a broken skull.

Phoenix Police are looking for a driver who drove away after beating the father who saved the 5-year-old son

Investigators didn’t say how they found Mims after the crash.
