Phoenix wraps up day one at the Brant Tolsma Invitational

LYNCHBURG, Va.— Elon University kicked off its first day at the Brant Tolsma Invitational on Friday, January 21 on the Liberty University campus at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex.

Kaitlin McGoogan was Elon’s top weight finisher as the junior finished second with her throw of 17.85m, teammate Lauryn Carlton was third with her personal best of 16.96m. Kristine Strazdite also placed in the top 10 with her throw of 14.58 m.

In the 200 meters, Meghan Wilcox and Jordan Haywood led the Phoenix in the race, with the pair finishing in the top-10. Wilcox was sixth overall with a time of 25.48 while Haywood was eighth with her time of 25.68.

Jessica Anderson was seventh in day one in the pole vault, clearing the bar at a height of 3.20m. Alexa Mark was Elon’s top finisher in the long jump, finishing 14th overall with a jump of 5.23m.

On board

Elon wraps up the second and final day of the gathering tomorrow, January 22nd, with events for the Phoenix starting at 11am with the shot put and 60m hurdles heats.
