TUCSON, Arizona (AP) – Police have made an arrest in connection with the vandalism of a synagogue in Tucson.
Authorities say 30-year-old Nathan Beaver was admitted to Pima County Jail Thursday for serious damage to property.
Beaver is accused of spraying anti-Semitic graffiti on the Chabad-on-River Synagogue on June 7th. The graffiti contained a swastika and a bow.
Police say a unit dealing with potential hate crimes made “exhaustive efforts” and determined that there was enough evidence to arrest Beaver.
It was not immediately known whether Beaver had a lawyer or whether he was still being held.
Mayor Regina Romero and Police Chief Chris Magnus both say the incident was particularly worrying for the community.
