Police Blotter: NM State Police publishes more than 1,800 citations
ALBUQUERQUE
During the Independence Day holidays, New Mexico state police participated in Operation Combined Accident Reduction Effort on every road in the state.
The aim of the traffic initiative is to increase the safety of motorists and to reduce the number of accidents through a heavy police presence.
Due to the increased traffic during the holidays, NMSP increased its patrol presence from Saturday July 3rd to Monday July 5th.
State police officers issued more than 1,800 traffic warnings (85 counts of missing seat belts) and arrested 21 drunk drivers across the country. A total of 33 accidents were handled by the officers, one of them fatal.
The Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Bureau published 75 subpoenas and conducted over 200 inspections.
Navajo Co. Sheriff’s Report June 20-28
HOLBROOK – The Navajo County Sheriff’s Office reports the following activity for June 20-26.
On June 20, Frankie Nachu, 29, of Whiteriver, was arrested at a traffic stop in Lakeside on DUI alcohol allegations.
On June 22nd, Camille Gishie, 30, from Holbrook was summoned for an open container in a vehicle and released. While on patrol in the McLaws Road area, MPs carried out a traffic check and observed an open alcohol container in the vehicle while investigating a possible DUI.
On June 23, MPs investigated a report of an attack between inmates in the Navajo County Jail. Angel Ortiz, 33, of Holbrook, was arrested and transferred to prison for disorderly fighting.
On June 24th, MPs at Moose Henri’s in Pinetop responded to a report of a “dine and dash”. Upon arrival, MPs spoke to a staff member who said a couple had eaten food and left without paying. Devin Ivins, 36, of White River, has been cited and released for theft. Florence Alsenay, 31, of White River, was transported and posted on the Show Low Annex Jail for an arrest warrant.
On June 24th, MPs arrested Valerie Best, 62, in Overgaard and booked her on the Show Low Annex. She was charged with misconduct and domestic violence.
On June 26, Rep. Joseph Kern, 31, arrested in Shumway and booked him in Navajo County Jail for domestic violence and misconduct.
On June 27, MPs patrolling State Route 377 conducted a DUI investigation against a driver, Laurie Shondee, 51, of Ganado, and arrested her for DUI and aggravated DUI for having her children with her her in the car.
On June 28, Lawrence Maho, 57, from Polacca was arrested and charged with several drug possession offenses. MPs patrolled State Route 77 near mile post 397 and conducted a traffic control. During the interaction with the driver, an additional investigation was carried out which found dangerous drugs in the vehicle.
FBI hosts diversity recruiting event
ALBUQUERQUE – The Albuquerque FBI Department will host a virtual recruitment event on July 22nd to provide qualified job seekers the opportunity to connect with FBI special agents and professional staff.
The Diversity Agent Recruitment Event, which runs from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM, is an invitation-only briefing designed to introduce special agent applicants to the unique capabilities of the FBI.
“To carry out our mission effectively, the FBI must reflect the makeup of the communities we serve,” said Raul Bujanda, special adviser for the Albuquerque FBI division. “We invite all members of ethnic and gender groups who are underrepresented in police work to apply, although this event is open to applicants from all backgrounds.”
Applicants will speak online with a recruiter, attend small-group sessions with seasoned agents, watch a video about life as a student at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and learn tips on how to streamline the application process.
Applicants for the FBI special agent position must be between 23 and 36 years old, have one to two years of full-time work experience, and have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
No law enforcement or military experience is required, and applicants from any degree are welcome to apply.
Applicants with prior knowledge of foreign languages, MINT, accounting and law are expressly invited to participate in the DAR.
