Police report: Farmington Police arrest a man after being stabbed

FARMINGTON

Farmington Municipal Police arrested a man after being stabbed outside Animas Valley Mall Monday night.

At around 6 p.m. on February 22, security officers asked the police to help them with a man who was threatening others with a knife.

Later identified as 46-year-old Raymond Willie, the man at the mall had been aggressive towards other customers and security guards.

Willie bought a knife from a store and then left the mall and started threatening bystanders. Security turned to Willie and asked the police for help.

Before the officers arrived, a citizen tried to help the guard disarm the man by approaching Willie from behind and wrapping his arms around him.

Security pepper sprayed Willie as he started stabbing the citizen who was assisting. The officers came and immediately began to provide assistance to the citizen, disarming and arresting Willie.

The citizen was taken to the San Juan Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and is now in stable condition.

Raymond Willie is charged with a deadly weapon with an aggravated battery.

Reward offered for information on Shorty’s death

ALBUQUERQUE – The FBI is offering up to $ 5,000 in rewards for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Zachariah Juwaun Shorty.

On July 25, 2020, Shorty’s body was found on a dirt road in a field in Nenahnezad, New Mexico.

The cause of death was gunshot wounds.

He was last seen on July 21, 2020 in the area of ​​the Journey Inn in Farmington.

Shorty, who lived in Kirtland, New Mexico, was 23 years old at the time.

The Navajo Criminal Investigation Department is assisting this investigation.

2 arrested for assault, robbery, drugs

HOLBROOK – Show Low’s Kyle Suon Chea, 18, and Show Low’s Samuel Mendoza, 22, were arrested on February 13 for assault, robbery and drugs, according to the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office.

Chea has been charged with aggravated assault, armed robbery, dangerous drug possession / use, and drug paraphernalia.

Mendoza has been charged with aggravated assault and armed robbery. Both were sent to the Navajo County Jail.

The MPs responded to a report of the attack in Linden. The victim, a 34-year-old man, suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries. An investigation revealed search warrants for two apartments in the Show Low area.

During the searches, evidence of the crime was seized along with dangerous drugs.
