Primavera is cooking! 2021 will feature a limited season dinner in August and September at Kingfisher, Reforma, Janos at Carriage House (pictured above in 2019) and Feast. Tickets are $ 150 per person, and restaurants follow pandemic guidelines on social distancing and masks. All proceeds go to the Primavera Foundation in its efforts to find ways out of poverty through safe, affordable housing and workforce development.

Like monsoons and night blooms, it’s a Tucson summer tradition: Primavera Cooks! is back.

“We are planning a limited special edition of four dinners over a month, starting on Sunday, August 29th, at the Kingfisher, followed by Reforma, Janos at the Carriage House and Feast. This is a legacy with a remarkable following, and people have genuinely wanted us to bring it back, ”said David Elliott, Primavera Foundation Special Events Coordinator.

The shortened season is a consequence of the pandemic that led to the cancellation of the entire Primavera Cook 2020! Season with the exception of a virtual dinner at Feast.

It was a loss for the foundation, which is committed to finding ways out of poverty through safe, affordable housing and workforce development.

“Normally we generate cooks with Primavera! well over $ 200,000 a year so we took a huge financial blow last year, but our donors are great and many donated in lieu of dinners. You are committed to ensuring that those in need in our community don’t fall through the cracks, ”said JoAnn Salazar, Chief Philanthropy Officer of the Primavera Foundation.

Primavera offers a wide range of programs and services, including a 100-bed emergency shelter for men who are working or looking for work (currently 35 men are housed to ensure social distancing); two points of contact for people in need of emergency services (one is the only facility in town with postal and telephone messaging systems for people without a residential address). Primavera also offers a variety of permanent, affordable rental apartments across the city.
