Priscilla Page participates in the panel for culture-conscious casting and theater | News and media relations office

The Department of Theater and Theater of the University of Michigan and the Faculty’s Culture Aware Casting Committee for Faculty Students will host a panel discussion on Culture Aware Casting and Theater with a panel of experts in the field on Friday, February 12 at 12:00 noon.

The round table is inspired by the book “Casting a Movement: The Welcome Table Initiative”.

Panelists include:

  • Daniel Banks, Co-editor of “Casting a Movement” and co-director of DNAWORKS, an arts and service organization dedicated to using the arts as a catalyst for dialogue and healing.
  • Justin Emeka, Director and Associate Professor of Theater and African Studies at Oberlin College and a contributor to Casting a Movement.
  • Jamil Khoury, Executive Artist Director of the Silk Road Rising Theater, a Chicago theater dedicated to global stories based on Asian, Middle Eastern and Muslim experiences.
  • Dorinne Kondo, Dramaturg and Professor of American Studies and Anthropology at the University of Southern California and contributor to “Casting a Movement”.
  • Priscilla page, Lecturer in theater at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she leads the certificate in multicultural theater and contributes to “Casting a Movement”.

The panelists discuss their work on site, answer questions from the moderators, followed by questions from the audience.
