In December, Showtime debuted Your Honor, a harrowing crime drama starring Bryan Cranston in a role that earned the actor his eighth Golden Globe nomination.

Produced by Robert and Michelle King of The Good Fight and Peter Moffat of The Night Of, the 10-part series revolves around Michael Desiato (Cranston), a prominent New Orleans judge whose son Adam (Hunter Doohan) inadvertently kills another teen in a hit-and-run collision.

When Desiato learns what happened, he immediately tells his son to face the police. However, he changes his mind when he learns that the victim of the attack was the son of local mob Jimmy Baxter (Michael Stuhlbarg). Revelation leads him to remove evidence incriminating Adam. Of course, the judge’s actions have tragic consequences.

The first episode of Your Honor sets the stage for a violent conflict between Desiato, Adam and the Baxter family. Edward Berger directed the pilot from a script by Moffat, which you can read in its entirety below as part of Deadline’s It Starts On the Page, a series that highlights the scripts that serve as the creative backbone of the now ongoing TV awards season. These scripts will be submitted to the Emmy Awards this year and have been selected based on criteria that include critical recognition, selection from a variety of networks and platforms, and a mix of established and lesser-known shows.

Your Honor was adapted from the Israeli series Kvodo, created by Ron Ninio and Shlomo Mashiach and produced by Ram Landes. Moffat served as the showrunner and executive producer of the US version and wrote a number of episodes. Executive producers on the show also include Berger, Cranston, Alon Aranya, James Degus, Liz Glotzer, and Rob Golenberg.

The series, which was produced by CBS TV Studios in association with King Size Productions, also starred Hope Davis, Tony Curran, Lilli Kay, Carmen Ejogo, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Benjamin Flores Jr., Amy Landecker, Jimi Stanton, Keith Machekanyanga, Chet Hanks, Sofia Black-D’Elia, Lamar Johnson, Maura Tierney and Lorraine Toussaint.
