Rev. Al Sharpton is not running for New York governor

Sharpton will be blunt: he’s not interested in going to Albany.

Rev. Al told us he won’t dip his toes in the 2022 gubernatorial race now that the accused Governor Andrew Cuomo is officially Donzo.

“I’m not interested in running for office, but I will certainly be interested in dealing with the governor. You can expect me to run for the microphone to say loud and clear what guidelines I think you should be dealing with, ”Rev. told Page Six.

Sharpton, who ran for president in 2004, added that he doubted he would ever run for leader of the free world again. “I wouldn’t rule it out, but I doubt it,” he said.

Sharpton caught up with us after celebrating the tenth anniversary of his MSNBC show PoliticsNation with heavyweights like Democratic mayoral candidate Eric Adams, Joy Reid, Bevy Smith and current boss, MSNBC President Rashida Jones.

And since a candidacy is out of the question – at least for now – he said: “I want to build a civil rights museum in Harlem, and I want to make sure that the civil rights movement of the north has a state-of-the-art museum. And I want to continue broadcasting both radio and television. “

In the meantime, Sharpton will seek a replacement for his charity, the National Action Network, “over the next three years,” he said.

“I wanted to go early, but [President Donald] Trump happened so I stayed. So I intend to have someone in three years to take over the National Action Network while I keep broadcasting and doing the museum, ”he said.
