SRP to build Arizona’s largest solar power plant north of Flagstaff – KAFF-Nachrichten – Flagstaff
The Salt River Project announced this week that it is partnering with solar and storage developer Clenera to build Arizona’s largest solar power plant north of Flagstaff. According to the SRP, construction of the facility, named “CO Bar Solar”, should begin in 2023 and go into operation in 2024. The plant will supply SRP customers with a total of 400 megawatts of renewable energy. Clenera will operate the facility. The facility will occupy 24 acres of Babbitt Ranch’s property in Coconino County. Over the course of the 18-month construction period, around 550 construction jobs are expected to be created, many of them local. When completed, “CO Bar Solar” will generate enough electricity to meet the needs of 80,000 households, according to SRP, while offsetting a billion pounds of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
