Stratton / Liberty and Otis appear in Postseason 1A – Yuma Pioneer

The Stratton / Liberty volleyball team is heading for the Class 1A postseason.
The Knighted Eagles started the final week of the shortened season C 11-0. They hosted Hi-Plains last Tuesday and ended the regular season in two games later that week. They occupy fourth place in the top 15 in class 1A (CHSAANow.com surveys) and are above all number 5 in the 1A Rating Percentage Index. The 24 best teams will move up to the region next week.

The Knighted Eagles set good times last week with a 25-6, 25:15, 25-14 home win against 2A Burlington last Thursday. Kennedy Frank had 11 kills, Lucero Ontiveros six, McKenna Notter five, Hannah Rigirozzi three, and Mattie Crouse two. Crouse had 14 recruitment assistants, Lauren Thompson had four and Rigirozzi had two. Frank was 18-18 and served with four aces, Emma Beans 16-17 with six aces, Crouse 13-13, Ontiveros 11-12 with one ace, Crystal Bouchier 11-11, and Madison Tagtmeyer 4-5.
Stratton / Liberty played the Deer Trail last Friday and won the Eagles 25-8, 25-6, 25-7. Frank and Rigirozzi had 10 kills each, Ontiveros six, Kandess Mills four, Crouse three, Notter two, and Thompson Eden Sears one each. Crouse led with 26 assists. Beans was 27-27 and served with two aces, Bouchier 15-15 with two aces, Crouse 11-11 with one ace, Frank 9-9 with three aces, Ontiveros 4-4, Sears 3-3 with an ace and Tagtmeyer and Callie Camp both 1-1.

OTIS
The Otis High School volleyball team is close to another postseason offer.
The long-standing class 1A force enters the last week of the shortened season C with a 7: 3 overall record and can secure a place in the regional field with 24 teams. The Bulldogs were number 21 in the 1A Rating Percentage Index and ranked 15th in the top 15 (CHSAANow.com surveys). They hosted Bethune last Tuesday without a win, went to Idalia on Wednesday and ended the regular season today, April 22nd, with a match at Kit Carson and at home against Hi-Plains on Friday.Ali Hornung sets up an Otis teammate. The Bulldogs only had one match last week and rolled on 13th, 25th-6th, 25th-9th, 25th-11th. April past Arickaree / Woodlin. Becca Bleak had 17 kills, Rowan Tribelhorn 13, Jayce Perry two and Azariah Erickson two. Ali Hornung had 33 recruitment assistants. Bleak was 16-17 with five aces, Erickson 16-16 with four aces, Anthoneya Schaffert 15-17 with four aces, Tribelhorn 10-10 with one ace, Hailey Stivers 5-5 and Hornung 5-6.

LONE STAR
Season C of the Lone Star volleyball team is likely to close this week.
The Longhorns went into the final week of the regular season 3-8 overall and were far from the race for a berth in the regional field of 24 teams. They played last Tuesday in Arickaree / Woodlin, have a match against Class 2A Wray on Friday and finish the regular season on Saturday at home against Flatirons Academy.
Jayna Lockard from Lone Star. (Dave Gustafson) Lone Star hosted Weldon Valley last Thursday and lost in five straight sets. The Longhorns lost 9-25 and 16-25, then picked up the intensity, won the next two sets 25-20 and pushed Weldon Valley to extra points in the fifth, losing 14-16. Statistics were not available.

ARICKAREE / WOODLIN
The Arickaree / Woodlin volleyball team will wrap up Season C shortened this week.
The Indian Mustangs are doing Class 2A Wray today April 22nd then finishing it up in Cheyenne Wells on Saturday. You played the home game against Lone Star last Tuesday with a 9-1 record.
They lost in straight sets at Akron last Thursday, 10-25, 6-25, 12-25. Statistics were not available.
Arickaree / Woodlin played at 1A Fleming on Saturday and lost 5-25, 15-25, 8-25. Statistics were not available.
