The Flagstaff Neighborhood Faculty males’s basketball cruises win St. Petersburg

Flagstaff, Fl. – (tcceagles.com) – El Ellis hit his career high with 34 points in Flagstaff Community College’s 85-66 win over St. Petersburg College on Saturday afternoon at the Bill Hebrock Eagledome with 34 points.

Flagstaff is now 4-0 ahead of the South Georgia Technical College visit on Monday at 7pm.

Ellis scored 22 of his 34 points in the second half when the Eagles beat St. Petersburg 49-29 to obliterate the Titans 37-36 lead at half time.

Ellis just took over when the teams came out of the locker room. A trio of three pointers made up half of the 18 points he scored in the first 10 minutes of half. The last of them scored a 20-5 run over a four-minute distance and put the Eagles 65:50 ahead. 10:46.

St. Petersburg never got closer than 13 for the rest of the game.

Two more Eagles came to Ellis in double digits – Jeremiah Kendall with 13 and DeAngelo Ware with 10.

Flagstaff seemed ready to run away early and take a 15-5 lead in less than five minutes, but St. Petersburg scored the next 12 points and took their first lead (17-15) at 13:25 first half.

St. Petersburg shot 61.9 percent (13 of 21) off the field in the first half and led to the break with a lead.

The second half was a different story where Flagstaff was a model of efficiency on both ends. Offensively, the Eagles hit 11 of 19 field goal attempts, including 5 of 7 threes, and knocked down 22 of 26 free-throw attempts. They also put the braces on the Titans defensively, limiting visitors to 7-of-26 shots.

The teams scored 58 fouls and 75 free-throw attempts. Flagstaff hit 32 out of 40 while St. Petersburg was just 23 out of 35.
