The cyclist dies after a collision in Yuma near 14th Avenue, 12th Street
A cyclist died Friday night after driving through a stop sign and being hit by a van near 14th Avenue and 12th Street in Yuma, police said.
The cyclist, an unidentified 59-year-old man, drove through a stop sign on 14th Avenue and, according to Sgt., Collided with a GMC Savana van on 12th Street at around 5:38 p.m. Lori Franklin, a spokeswoman for the Yuma Police Department.
The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and the delivery truck driver, a 57-year-old man, was not injured, according to Franklin.
The police did not disclose the names of the cyclists or drivers.
Alcohol doesn’t seem to be a factor, Franklin said. The incident is still being investigated.
