The EDC Player of the Year site leads Grand Forks Red River to the State Tournament

Roughriders will have three seeds in the state when the game starts on Friday

GRAND FORKS, ND – The state A-class basketball tournament for girls begins on Friday in Bismarck. One team to watch out for when the action starts is Grand Forks Red River.

The RoughRiders finished the regular season with a 20-4 record, earning them the top seed in the EDC tournament and the three seeds in the state. If you saw them play this year, you have most likely seen a player who made bucket after bucket and that was striker Alex Page.

The senior averaged 17 points and 7 rebounds per game. Both were top ten at the conference.

It earned Page the EDC Top Athlete of the Year and a nomination for Miss North Dakota Basketball. It’s something she focused on before the season started.

“It’s rewarding. I know I wouldn’t have come here without my teammates and my coaches, ”said Page. “They really pushed me in practice and motivated me in the game. We worked in the gym over the summer and found throughout the season that this is what we really wanted. We wanted to work for something we thought we could do. My teammates believed in me and I believed in my teammates that we could do it together. “

Page will play her college ball in Minnesota-Crookston, but before that the RoughRiders will be awarded a state title. In her four years, Red River has done it every time. This experience will help keep your running and it all starts with the second game of the day at the Bismarck Events Center, which is about the two seeds from the west, Watford City. A win means a match between Davies and Jamestown in the semifinals.
