The Phoenix area pawn shop is seeing more gun sales following the recent mass shootings

Arms sales are rising amid fears of arms legislation

One pawn shop owner says people are crazy that the government is violating people’s right as law abiding, legal citizens to own guns.

The United States was rocked by two mass shootings within a week. Legislators are now working to take further measures to control weapons.

The goal, it is said, is to prevent these mass shootings, and stores in the valley say the potential for these restrictions has led to an increase in arms sales.

While arms sales have generally spiked over the past year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a manager on a ship said last week that he had seen an even bigger increase than usual.

“We call it the Trifecta,” said Byron Vaughn, general manager of Mo Money Pawn. “Right now you have gun control, you have stimulus checks, you have tax refunds.”

Vaughn says people came to the Phoenix store this past week.

“They are angry that the government is violating and taking away their rights as law abiding citizens,” Vaughn said.

After the Boulder shooting, President Joe Biden pleaded with the Senate and the House to adopt new gun control measures that would ban offensive weapons. At the time, President Biden said he didn’t want to “wait another minute, let alone an hour” to act, but Vaughn doesn’t think such a ban would prevent a mass shooting.

“It’s an inanimate object,” said Vaughn. “You will find something. Knife, tubular steel, something else to do the job.”

Vaughn urges lawmakers to reconsider these restrictions.

“The problems that people have are malformations, and that also applies to our politicians,” said Vaughn.

No further restrictions were introduced at this point.
