The Phoenix Flight School offers pilot training as airlines face bottlenecks
TyPad Sunday: The Phoenix flight school offers pilot training
Many major airlines are now announcing that they want to hire more pilots. If you’ve ever thought of becoming a pilot, this may be the perfect time to sign up for flight lessons at ATP Flight School in Phoenix. Ty Brennan from FOX 10 reports.
PHOENIX – – As more and more Americans are being vaccinated, the travel industry in the US has seen a sharp surge in demand.
Many major airlines are now announcing their plan to hire more pilots, and a flying school in the valley says this could be the perfect time to sign up for flight lessons if you ever think about becoming a pilot.
“The pilots who are coming out now are well positioned,” says Josh Klien, head of training at the ATP Flight School in Phoenix.
ATP is the largest flight training center in the country with more than 50 locations in the United States. Now that the travel industry is recovering, the airline expects a shortage of pilots.
“Before the pandemic, there was a shortage of pilots,” said Klein. “It was less acute during the pandemic as the flight slowed down, but it will be more noticeable as we get out of the pandemic because we are retiring early while the airlines have been slower.”
The process of becoming a pilot can be completed in just two years.
“”[You start as a] Private pilot, then work towards a commercial certificate and then we recommend getting a certified flight instructor certificate too, “Klein said.
Klein says that the hard work and dedication makes for a great career in the end.
“Airlines continue to raise pay and want these highly skilled pilots – and it’s worth it,” he said.
