The Phoenix School District says a mask mandate lawsuit is in dispute
PHOENIX – Phoenix School District wants a lawsuit dismissed over its COVID-19 mask mandate, which could be a test case for other counties.
Phoenix Union High School District attorneys argued at a preliminary hearing on Wednesday that state law banning such policies is not yet in place.
They say the law that includes the ban won’t go into effect until September 29th.
A biology teacher filed a lawsuit this week, demanding a restraining order for the measure, which he said was illegal. Both sides will come up with full arguments next week.
Since the Phoenix Union’s decision, four other school districts have also broken the law, including Tucson’s largest district.
