The Tucson store offers bras and prostheses for breast cancer survivors

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) – Alice Rae Intimate Apparel owner Julia Hann said her business helps women at every stage.

“Our business is unique because we don’t have any age group of customers that we serve,” said Hann.

Hann said her shop serves young teenagers later in life.

The Tucson shop offers prosthetic limbs and bras for women who have or have had breast cancer. Their products are tailored to each customer. Long-time customer Dee Reddick was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago and had a double mastectomy.

“I was having a little trouble finding bras that fit, so I got in,” said Reddick.

Despite the support of loyal customers, Hann has recorded a double-digit decline in sales in her business since March.

“Where would these women go for their mastectomy if we weren’t here?” said Alice Rae Intimate Apparel Mastectomy Fitter, Stefani Todd.

Staff said Alice Rae was one of only two stores in Tucson certified to prepare women for a prosthesis and bra after the mastectomy.

“I’m going to make an adjustment and see your posture change. I’ll see you stand taller and throw your shoulders back. I can tell that made a difference,” said Todd.

Alice Rae’s employees want to continue despite later challenges.

“We all gain confidence in different ways, but it matters to all of us. If this works, it’s a good thing,” said Todd.
