The University of Phoenix College of Doctoral Studies publishes a special COVID-19 edition of the Phoenix Scholar ™ Academic Journal

PHOENIX–(BUSINESS WIRE) – The University of Phoenix has released a special edition of its academic research journal, the Phoenix Scholar ™, which focuses on aligning the higher education industry in the age of COVID-19. The issue features articles highlighting the tremendous operational challenges of quickly moving to a remote workforce, from admission to online learning modalities to research practices.

Phoenix Scholar ™ is the University of Phoenix College of Doctoral Studies’ quarterly academic research publication. As a longtime leader in online education, the university shares how quickly it has changed as an organization to successfully serve its staff and students in this unprecedented time.

“At the University of Phoenix, we were already very familiar with online learning practices. Our unique challenge was to quickly expand and reuse this system to convey previous personal teaching experiences at our local locations in a synchronous online format, ”said Dr. Hinrich Eylers, Editor-in-Chief of Phoenix Scholar ™ and Vice Provost for PhD Studies and Academic Operations at the University of Phoenix. “In the same way, we had to switch the vast majority of our employees to work from home at the same time. With student and staff needs emerging quickly, many of the challenges had to be addressed within days to ensure that all of our students and staff could continue their education and work without interruption. ”

The College of Doctoral Studies is also home to the newly established University of Phoenix Career Institute, which recently published the results of its first annual Career Optimism Index ™ study. The study measures working Americans’ attitudes towards their careers and the barriers to career advancement. The study found that 83% of workers believe they can easily adapt to new work situations and 82% said they are resilient to challenges in their careers. “This is encouraging given the challenges workers have faced over the past year,” said Eylers. “In many cases it has a profound impact on their working life.”
