Three teen suspects pull out of school in attack on 19-year-old boy last Sunday – KAFF News – Flagstaff

The Blue Ridge Unified School District announced that the three suspects have resigned from Blue Ridge High School in connection with the attack on a 19-year-old last Sunday. According to police, Joey Jaurique was attacked by two teenagers at the Low Lake Show after being lured by a 17-year-old girl. He was flown to a Phoenix hospital but has since been released and is recovering at home. At least one of the attackers was on the Blue Ridge High School football team, and all three suspects were at school last week. This discovery sparked outrage among parents and students, which led to a protest outside the school last Wednesday. Show Low Police recommend that the three be charged with aggravated assault and conspiracy, with an additional charge of complicity in the girl. District officials also say the FBI is now involved in the investigation. Until last week, the Show Low Police were still investigating the incident and had not referred the case to the Navajo County Attorney’s Office for formal indictment. District officials canceled classes for the past four days because of threats to schools. Officials say the school will resume Tuesday after an investigation into the threats shows there are no credible threatened threats.
