PHOENIX – A company owned by golf legend Tiger Woods has launched a new venture on Metro Phoenix: two entertainment centers with 18-hole putting courses.

Florida-based PopStroke announced Thursday that it has signed contracts for seven new locations in three states, including the Westgate Entertainment District in Glendale and The Pavilions at Talking Stick in Scottsdale.

PopStroke wants to be more than just a putt-putt place. Think, “Honey, I’ve shrunk the TopGolf.” Or “Honey, I blew up mini golf.”

Woods and his TGR design team create the artificial turf layouts of the venues with fairways, bunkers and rough features, just like on real courses.

“Each new location will have a different course design and layout, offering players unique putting challenges as they journey across the country,” said the 15-time championship winner, whose career was interrupted after serious leg injuries in a single vehicle wreck in the wreck February said in a press release.

PopStroke also offers mobile apps for scoring and electronic leaderboards to encourage competition. In addition, visitors can dine, drink, and play other outdoor games.

The Valley locations are slated to open in the fall of 2022, a company spokesman told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Friday.

PopStroke was founded in 2018 and has two locations in Florida. In addition to the Arizona locations, the company is planning four more in Grapefruit State and one in the Houston area.

The Glendale PopStroke is being built in a parking lot on the north side of the sprawling Westgate complex to the west of the AMC cinema.

The Scottsdale location is behind the Home Depot west of the Loop 101 Pima Freeway on Talking Stick Way / Indian Bend Road.

“I’m very excited about our expansion plans,” said Woods, who owns the company along with businessman Greg Bartoli. “Putting is a universal part of golf that people of all ages and abilities can enjoy.”
