“I have long asked you to step down from your position,” he said. “I’ve been calling for a new leadership at the State Party for a long time. It’s time. It’s time. We’ll have a very difficult year 2022 if that doesn’t happen.”

Shedd starts AG campaign

Republican Tiffany Shedd of Eloy, southern Arizona, was the first candidate in the running for attorney general this week.

Shedd, a lawyer and cotton farmer, has run twice for Congress in the First Congressional District of Arizona but is now targeting the AG’s office.

Quoting concerns about border security, she said in an announcement that conditions had worsened because she lived in a smuggling corridor.

“I’m running for attorney general because I’ve never seen anything as dangerous as what Arizona is facing,” Shedd said in the statement.

Incumbent Republican Mark Brnovich has served two terms and cannot stand for re-election due to term restrictions. He is expected to run for governor in 2022.

Shedd lost the race for the Republican nomination for Congress in CD1 in 2018, but won the nomination in 2020 only to lose the general election to incumbent Democratic MP Tom O’Halleran by 3.2% .
