Toddler in extremely critical condition after being dragged out of the Phoenix Pool
A three-year-old girl was in extremely critical condition Monday night after being dragged from an apartment swimming pool in Phoenix, authorities said.
At around 6:40 p.m., firefighters responded to calls from a toddler drowning in a pool in an apartment near 24th Street and McDowell Road. When the crews arrived, a bystander performed CPR on the unconscious child who was not breathing.
After firefighters also performed CPR, the girl was transported to a county hospital in extremely critical condition, Captain Todd Keller said. An update on the child’s condition was not yet available.
Family members told the fire brigade and police that they did not know how long the girl had been under water, according to Keller.
Drowning was investigated.
