Trevor Bauer published 67-page document on sexual assault
It’s been a turbulent week for Trevor Bauer’s camp. Elsewhere, teams who haven’t signed Bauer breathe a sign of relief, and a couple of guys went into the office this week with the “I told you so” comments to their GMs or supervisors. Everyone thought their problems were coming from social media or their comments being drawn upon themselves, not that, and no one should be happy about that.
Earlier this week, a report by The Athletic’s Brittany Ghiroli and Katie Strang brought news that Trevor Bauer was accused of assaulting a 27-year-old woman in Los Angeles in April. The two, who met through Facebook’s Instagram, met on two separate occasions.
(Warning: The following are sexually sensitive details related to allegations of sexual assault.)
The first time happened on April 21st, between his two starts against the San Diego Padres. When the two started having consensual sex, Bauer asked to get a little rougher. She agreed, but claimed that he stuck his fingers too roughly down her throat. But then, after he stopped, he started choking her with her hair without her consent, which made her pass out.
Not sure how long she had slept, she woke up to find that Trevor was penetrating her anally, obviously not approving either. Claiming that she went into the bathroom bleeding and then, strangely enough, thought it was okay to spend the night with him, she said: the rest of the night. “
I’m not sure how much this will hurt her in court, but staying on that justification the night after is strange. Why stay If he physically strangled you and did things while you were passed out, why would you think he wouldn’t do it again and everything was safe now? I’m sure Bauer’s camp will attack this motive to some extent.
She also says that she had a conversation with him the next morning, expressing that it was not a comfortable night for her, and he seemed to “understand” it.
Oddly enough, she returned to his house in May and the two agreed to use a safe word. I doubt it was Thor. After five minutes of sex, Bauer reverted to suffocation and the woman passed out again. The report says she regained consciousness and found out she was hit on the head. The report goes on; “Trevor then hit me hard on the left side of my jaw, the left side of my head, and both cheekbones with a closed fist. I remember it vividly and it was extremely terrifying and painful. I was completely frozen and was scared. I couldn’t speak or move. After hitting me several times, he turned me back on my stomach and started choking me with hair. I’ve lost consciousness again. “
The worst part of the report is the pictures that visibly hurt her under the eyes and show a swollen jaw. She was also smeared with blood all over her face. The next day, she underwent some medical exams and also notified the San Diego Police Department.
She then spoke to the Pasedena police, who suggested that she persuade him to make a confession over the phone. She filed the report with the Pasedena Police Department around May 16, but no arrests were made at that time. The police are currently investigating.
With immediate effect, Bauer’s camp rejects all allegations and says that everything was amicable. The Dodgers are partnering with MLB to conduct their own investigation. From now on, Bauer should continue to pitch. With today’s report surfacing, one would have to wonder if and when Trevor Bauer will be suspended pending the outcome of her investigation?
Stay tuned.
