Tucson Announce Addition of Defender Tarn Weir

TUCSON, Ariz. – FC Tucson today announced the signing of 22-year-old defender Tarn Weir, who previously played with USL Championship side Oakland Roots SC during the past two seasons. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

“I’m excited to be playing with a new group of quality players and a great coaching staff,” Weir said. “I see how driven this club is towards reaching success, so I’m very excited for the upcoming season.”

During the 2021-22 seasons with Oakland Roots, he made 13 appearances totaling 383 minutes and scored one goal.

The Oakland native played with a variety of clubs in the area including Montclair Clippers and the East Bay United Oaks. He then went on to play with the academy of MLS side San Jose Earthquakes between 2013 and 2016. Moving abroad in 2017, Weir developed in the youth ranks of Marbella United FC (Spain), Chorley FC (England) and Panthiraikos FC (Greece) .

“His work habits and his professionalism are top class,” said FC Tucson head coach Jon Pearlman. “He’s been in a professional environment since he was 17 or 18, and he’s somebody that we thought could bring a lot to the table and be a good contributor for us this season.”
