Tucson ballerina in need of your vote after named Prix de Lausanne finalist | news
TUCSON (KVOA) – After making it to the Top 20 in one of the biggest international ballet competitions in the world, a 17-year-old Tucsonan is in need of your support.
Back on Jan 27, Maya Schonbrun traveled to Switzerland to compete in the Lausanne Prize. Schonbrun, who began dancing at the age of 3, was one of only 14 Americans and the only dancer from Arizona accepted to take part in this annual competition.
After performing in front of nine of the most prominent members of the dance community, Schronbrun was selected as one of the 20 finalists in this year’s prix. She was among the four ballet artists representing the United States left in the competition.
With the finals set to start Saturday at 6 am (Arizona Time), residents have been given the opportunity to show their support for the 17-year-old Tucsonan by voting her as the favorite finalist for the competition.

Residents can also watch Schonbrun take the stage in the finals on Prix de Lausanne’s livestream. That can also be found at prixdelausanne.org.
