Tucson could see snow again

TUCSON, Arizona (KGUN) – Parts of Tucson woke up with snow on Saturday morning, and now we are again mentioning snow in the Tuesday morning forecast. And it wasn’t long ago that Tucson Airport measured 1 inch of snow in that storm in late January. Some Tucsonans wonder why the weather is so crazy this year.

A quick note that the forecast for tomorrow morning doesn’t look as snowy as it did on Saturday morning. The early morning timing of the front makes it necessary to mention the possibility of a rain / snow mix in Tucson. Even some light accumulations in the foothills.

The storm from Friday to Saturday was a high-flyer. Cold air bubbles dropped the snow to a point where part of the subway area could have dusted off. If you missed the snow, you probably have at least a decent amount of rainfall. 6-11 inches of snow fell on the mountain. Lemmon.

Remember, the La Nina pattern kept us mostly dry for many months. We are still in an extraordinary drought. But this recent snow is a good example of how the storm trail can slope south and change something from time to time.

Talking about snow in March seems a little late in the season. But we had snowfalls later. The last snow recorded at Tucson Airport occurred on April 16, 1976.
